Week 18: Sunday

I attended the first Church service at 8:30am with my kids, Josh and Justine. I was so looking forward to this because we haven't been going regularly. When I don't go, I miss out on a lot of things -- the teaching and the fellowship. It's embarrassing because now, it is Josh and Justine who remind me to go to Church.

Anyway, today Pastor Ed talked about Jabez. One of the many Old Testament characters mentioned in the Book of Chronicles.

"Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, 'Because I bore him in pain.' And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, 'Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain.' So God granted him what he requested" (1 Chronicles 4:9-10).

This verse spoke so loudly to me how I should also dream big dreams. After all, I serve a great God. Admittedly, I have given up on so many dreams. I rested on my laurels and convinced myself that I should be thankful that I am in the position that I am in and that I shouldn't aspire for more. I feared that I would not succeed. I formed boundaries around my talents, my skills and my abilities because I depended solely on myself.

I ought to start dreaming BIG again. It's about time.
