First comes love then comes marriage :-)

In this day and age where marriage seems to be less than permanent, it's
nice to know that there are still people who believe that there's still
such a thing as a lifetime commitment.

My friends L and K are finally getting married tomorrow. I have known
both of them for quite some time now and I honestly think that they are
a match made in heaven. They always have that look in their eyes that
clearly says that this union is going to be for life.

As a married woman, there are a few (unsolicited) advices that I would like to
give to K:

* Love her.
* Do not EVER raise your voice at her. "Stick and stones, can break
my bones, but words can never hurt me" is not true. Most of the time,
words prove to be more hurtful and demeaning.
* Compliment what she does. She'll appreciate you for it.
* Always remember that she is your wife and not your maid. Be your wife's
helper :-).
* Respect her opinions. Allow her to express her thoughts on every issue.
* Spend quality time together even if you already have kids.
* Be a good provider to your family.
* Be faithful.

As for L, here are a few thoughts that I'd like to leave you:

* Respect him.
* Support him as he becomes the head of the household.
* When he arrives at a decision, be sure to be respectful and supportive.
The man is the leader of the family and it should always be that way.
He should always have the last say. In case he makes a wrong decision,
refrain from blaming him. Quit nagging and learn from that experience.
* Always look your best. Being attractive is something that a woman has
to maintain even after she gets married. And yea, make sure that you
smell good too. :-)
* Keep the house tidy. Keep your house as peaceful and restful as possible.
* Budget your money. Be practical with all your purchases.
* Learn to cook. Make an effort to prepare healthy and delicious meals.

If there's anything offensive that either of you did, make it a point to
resolve it without involving your birth family. Learn to forgive each other
every day. Affirm your love for each other daily and don't sleep until you
are able to resolve your conflicts. Marriage is a wonderful phase in life but
it requires a lot of commitment, patience and most importantly, love. Make
God the center of your relationship. And always remember that the best
legacy that you could leave your kids is a lasting marriage.

Power Verses

Proverbs 21:9
Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a
quarrelsome wife.

Proverbs 20:6
Many a man claims to have unfailing love, but a faithful man who can find?

Genesis 2:24 (NIV)
24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united
to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

Ephesians 5:22-33 (NIV)
Wives and Husbands
22Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23For the husband is
the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body,
of which he is the Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also
wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave
himself up for her 26to make her holy, cleansing[a] her by the washing
with water through the word, 27and to present her to himself as a radiant
church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and
blameless. 28In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as
their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29After all, no
one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as
Christ does the church– 30for we are members of his body. 31“For this
reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,
and the two will become one flesh.”[b] 32This is a profound mystery–
but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33However, each one
of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must
respect her husband.

Colossians 3:18-19
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them

Ephesians 4:26
“In your anger do not sin” Do not let the sun go down while you are
still angry.

Proverbs 31
